Portuguese Music Museum

On 19thcentury it was common to built small palaces in Romantic Architecture Style. This was a main point on Cascais landscape.

 

Museum of Castro Guimarães Counts

This Municipal Museum is near by the sea and it keeps a very original architecture because its aim is to promote art. The palace is from 19th century and it was property of Manuel Castro Guimarães (a Portuguese Count from Cascais). He left in his Will all his property to a Municipal Museum and a Traditional Library. Besides the property, all the artifacts inside the palace were left to Cascais City Council. Beautiful pieces of art such as paitings from 17th century, Oriental China and more than 25 thousand books!!

 

Memory Space

During the Second World War Portugal took no side on the war. Because it was a neutral country, Portugal was chosen by many Jews who were looking for refuge. Although the Government tried to stop the Jews of entering in our country, legend tells that Aristides de Sousa Mendes (Portuguese Diplomat) was the Portuguese Schindler, because he gave more than 10 thousand Jews the visa to get into Portugal.
